Our Cards

For $8.14 we were able to get 500 biz cards at www.vistaprint.com to help promote Chicks Addicted To Coupons! I advise to always pay *slow rate* on shipping to help save money. Nearly every time I've ordered from them and paid for slow shipping, I've gotten my order within about ten to twelve days. I ordered these on the 3rd and received an email today saying they've been shipped. With the amount we've saved on our groceries bills lately, our cards are paid for. :)

K-Mart Binders ($8 and up)

I checked out the binders at K-mart today, part of my addiction lol. They have one much like the ones we have. (Scroll down to see pics.) Price is $7.99, very reasonable, same price we paid at Wal-Mart for ours. (The one's we bought at Wal-Mart rang up $11.97 but were stocked in several $7.97 places, so we got them for $7.97.) If you're looking to start a binder system, I'd say go take a look at this one. It'd be nearly perfect if it had a handle! They do have some with handles for around $15.00, however I wasn't crazy about the way one of them laid when you open it.

Can you use 2 coupons on a Buy 1 Get 1 Free?

YES! Valerie told me a few weeks back about being able to use 2 coupons on a B1G1. I kept thinking, how does that work when you aren't paying for one of the items? Sure enough, I was able to use 2 Lucky Charm coupons for 0.55 cents each on a B1G1 for $3.99. I paid $2.89 for both boxes which makes it $1.45 per box. I call that a deal! They even have the swirly marshmellows. :)

*This B1G1 is currently at Winn-Dixie.

Raising Arizona for $1

I got it! $5.00 DVD, used a $2 coupon today at K-mart which was DOUBLED to $4. I paid a $1.00! In fact, Traci and I both got one.
There was a small problem at first with my coupon working, but long story short, two managers came over and one over-rode the system, not questions asked, so that the coupon would work. The other one said that K-Mart only takes coupons that are printed from THEIR website and from THEIR coupon books. I was like, um no. He said I needed to visit their website and their policies. I very nicely told him I had a copy of THEIR policies with me in my binder and they were printed right off K-Mart's website. I asked him if he'd like to see it. He said no. End of story. Yay me! lol
I also got Traci and I one more bag of Snausages that were $2.99, 0.99 cents after $1 coupon doubled. You can never have enough dog treats!

I Got Mail!

I received a FREE toilet paper extender roll (holder) from Charmain today in the mail! It helps the double rolls spin better. :) I also received a FREE Escada Marine Groove perfume sample a few days ago. It's a small sample on a card. I can honestly say some online "FREEBIES" are really FREE!

DOUBLE COUPON DAYS, ALMOST OVER!

Reminder: K-Mart's DOUBLE COUPON DAYS goes through April the 10th! Gather your coupons to take advantage of this deal! (*They will double coupons up to $2.)

Did you get a great deal you'd like to share with us? If so, please email us a picture with price details and we'll be happy to show it off for you! :)

My Coupon Organizer Catagories

On the left in my accordian organizer I have store catagories. I file store ads here.
CVS
Rite-Aid
Walgreens
Target
Publix
Winn-Dixie
Wal-Mart/K-Mart
Dollar Stores
Office Supply Stores
Restaurant Menus (This comes in handy when you are looking over your coupons to figure out what's for dinner!)

I start off with stores on the right hand side, as well. When I make my list(s) at home, I put my coupons in the stores section I'm going to. This, and my lists, really help. Not to metion, you'll start clipping coupons for certain stores and this keeps them seperated from the rest of your coupons.

My right side catagories:
CVS
Dollar General
Publix
Rite-Aid
Target
Walgreens
Wal-Mart
Winn-Dixie
(I need to add K-Mart, but until Doubling Week, I wasn't sure I needed one!)

My Grocery Catagories:
Baking & Mixes
Basic Household (I file coupons here for candles, lightbulbs, batteries, etc.)
Boxed Foods & Side Dishes
Breads & Snacks
Canned Goods & Soups
Cereal & Breakfast Foods
Chips, Popcorn & P.Nuts
Cleaning
Coffee & Tea
Cold Foods & Meats
Condiments & Dressings
Dental & Eye Care
Drinks & Drink Mixes
Dry Goods
Feminine Hygiene
Frozen Foods
Games & Crafts
Hair Care
Lotions
Magazines & Books
Make-Up
Medicine
Outdoor & Hardware
Paper, Plastic & Wraps
PB&J & Syrups
Pets
Produce
School Supplies
Seasonings & Sauces
Shaving & Deodorant
Soaps & Body Wash
Yada-Yada! (misc. items)

I have more stores in the back, these are stores I don't shop at as much as the ones listed up front. (These catagories have more than one sheet protector and only one baseball card holder.)
Bath & Body Works
Hobby Lobby
Jo-Ann's
Lane Bryant
Michael's
Reward Cards (I think I'm going to change this to Receipts to help keep up with rewards. Always make sure to deduct what you've spent from your checking account before filing your receipts!)
Restaurants
Fun Stuff (In here I have things that the kids love to do, like bowling and icecream!)
Rebates & Returns
Store Policies (I highly suggest you print out store coupon policies to keep with you.)

I realize that I have FIFTY ONE catagories! This is what works for ME. :) Everyone is different, so make your coupon system something that works for YOU and fits in with your lifestyle.

My Coupon Organizer (My kids call it my Coupon Bible!)

I've recently upgraded to the "binder method" for my coupon organizer. I did invest a little money, maybe $25 total, but, I've gotten that back and then some, with all my savings! I'm going to show you step by step what it looks like.

For starters, I purchased this binder at Wal-Mart for about $8 in my favorite color!

It has several compartments on the front. I use this section for my pens/pencils and calculator. There is a small snap tab that's holding my keys. I don't normally keep them there, but, I wanted to show you the tab. Perhaps you can put all your store reward cards on one keyring and keep it in there. If you ever forget your card, from what I understand, stores can pull your name up using the phone number you used to sign up with.

I have two zip pouches. The first one, I use while I'm shopping for coupons I decide not to use, I'll file those later. My second pouch holds my scissors and a pencil. I have been known to stand in the store and cut a coupon! You never know!

I have a plastic folder here with a tab, it has a folder on each side. I keep my list(s) here. In the picture you'll see my free Publix grocery list card. These are available at Publix on one of those "turn around things" where the buggies are. There are usually recipes, coupon fliers and other offers there, too.

On the left side on the binder is an accordian organizer. I've added dividers and labeled each one with stores I shop at the most, then I file that store's weekly ad. The first section I keep misc. in, as well as coupons I pick up in stores to file later and other sales ad's. I always keep a clip with me, too. I've been known to just grab my coupons and run in a store when I'm in a hurry. I'll clip my coupons together. I found a pack of 3 big clips (pictured) at the $1 store.

On the right hand size is where I have all of my catagories. The catagories you use is up to you, use what works for YOU. :)

I purchased baseball card holders at Wal-Mart for around $6 for 35, they are located up front with the baseball cards. Traci and I did our binders together and she had to make a second trip to Wal-Mart when I came up with so many catagories! Right now we have 2-3 baseball card pages per section. We also have 1 sheet protector in each section for things that are too big to fit in the small slots of the baseball card holders.

This is what the sheet protector looks like with larger coupons.

In the back I have another plastic folder with a tab. The envelopes you see are labeled for different stores. At times I put my coupons in here as I go or take just an envelope in with me. 99.9% of the time I take my binder in with me because you never know when you'll come across an unadvertised sale!
*Be sure to check out My Binder Catagories post!
Happy Organizing!

Organizing Your Coupons (where to begin)

If you're new to couponing, like I am, you might be looking for a way to organize all those coupons you've been clipping. I'm starting out by showing you several very inexpensive ways to get started.
This first coupon organizer is probably the most popular, as well as the cheapest organizer out there. They can be found in just about any store for around $1. Various catagories are listed in this accordian style organizer. This is great if you're looking for something easy to carry. It'll also fit in most purses and also diaper bags. An easy "grab'n'go" organizer.

Another very inexpensive organizer and a good "grab'n'go" is a 4x6 photo album. You can find these in most $1 stores. I made this one for my Mom. I simply printed out labels for the catagories she wanted. It fits in her purse and is easy to carry.

I found this box at Wal-Mart for under $2, the index cards were about 0.50 cents. Using the index cards, make dividers for your catagories. You can use small sticky notes for your divider tabs or purchase them. Also makes a good recipe box.

I purchase this box at Michael's for $2.25 (retail is $4.49, I had a 50% off coupon!). It's original purpose was to store photo's. For using as a coupon organizer, label envelopes for the catagories you need and make your own dividers. You may not think you need this large of an organizer, however, before you know it your coupons GROW! :)

These are also at Michael's for $5.99, use a 50% off coupon and get it for $3! These are metal and pretty with the tye dye colors. I don't think envelopes will stand up in these, but depending on your number of catagories, you may not need them to. I just thought they were cute and inexpensive!

Another cute and inexpensive organizer is this metal "lunchbox" type box, also at Michael's. $6.49, but with a 50% off coupon they'll be $3.25! Use envelopes for catagories and make your own tabs. Another plus is the handle, making it easy to carry.
I think another really thrifty way to make an organizer is to use a shoebox wide enough for your envelopes to stand up. For anyone who is creative or loves to scrapbook, you could have a jazzed up, personalized, coupon organizer in no time! Imagine the possibilites! :)
*Any shoebox shaped, or rectangular, box will fit really well in the front part of the buggy. You can find many plastic shoebox containers at most stores for around $1 to $3. Some will even have handles.
The next coupon system I'll show is the "binder method". This is the one I use and I love it! :)

Walgreens Trip (I did good!)

I'm also learning about Walgreens WAG Coupon Savings (these are printed at the end of your transaction from a coupon printer). I feel like a did great on the above trip! Check it out:

Walgreens Gallon Size Storage Bags: $1.99
Kotex New "U" Tampons $3.49
L'Oreal Eyeshadow: $4.99 (on sale)
Clairol Haircolor: $5.99 (on sale)
20 4x6 Prints: $5.80 (FREE with printable coupon for today only!)

Sub-Total (before tax): $22.56
Total Coupons: $4.00
WAG's Earned: $2.50
(I used this on haircolor in second transaction, and a $3 coupon! I paid. 0.70 cents for haircolor!)
Total Paid w/ tax: $7.83! WOW! I saved $14.73! Yay me! :) *And, thanks to the sweet girl that helped me so much in the photo lab, my prints were ready before I checked out!

Trying To Learn About CVS ECB's (Extra Care Bucks)

I'm still trying to learn about CVS Extra Care Buck$. The above was done in two transactions. I did O.K. and left with $2 in ECB's (Extra Care Bucks).

Head & Shoulders Shampoo (on sale and received ECB's): $4.99
Head & Shoulders Conditioner (on sale and received EBC's): $4.99 (FREE w/ B1G1 coupon!)
Stride Gum (received an ECB): 0.99 cents
Colgate Toothpaste (had coupon & received ECB's): $4.89

Sub-Total (before taxes): $15.86
Total Coupons: $5.99
Total Paid w tax: $7.89 (roughly a 50% savings)
BUT, I DID receive $2 in ECB's, so it's like I paid $5.89! :)

Whew! Couponing is truly a job in itself! But, to me, a FUN one! :)

My K-Mart Deals- Day #3

As a new "couponer", I couldn't resist one last trip to K-Mart for DOUBLING days! My order was a bit messed up due to the fact I had an O'lay body wash coupon, which went through fine, however, when the cashier told me the total was $11 something, I was like "No, it should be maybe $5 or $6." Long story short, the body wash was NOT on sale and it was stocked in the WRONG place. Needless to say, they took it off my order and credited it back to my bank card. I was a little aggravated, but non-the-less I walked away with really good deals. :) I'm going to break it down for you with the body wash on it then show you the credit.

O'lay Body Wash $6.49
Kotex Panty Liners $1.29 (I got these FREE!)
Stayfree $3.59
Greased Lightening Cleaner $2.99
Honey Nut Chex Mix $2.99
Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Eggs (King Size) 0.63x3= $1.89 (these were 50% off)

Sub-Total (before taxes): $19.24
Total Coupons After Doubling: $8.79
Total Paid w/tax: $11.27

Then I realized the mistake with the body wash. After having a chat with customer service, they refunded the cost of the body wash less the amount of the coupon.

Total Refund: $5.87
Total Paid (after doubling coupons & refund): $5.40!

*I feel like I did really well today because we all know how expensive cereal and feminine products are! The chocolate eggs kinda just fit right in there, huh?! :) *I'm also getting a nice supply of cleaning products going, which is quite helpful because my part-time job is cleaning houses.
*After looking over my receipt, I realized I was over-charged for the Stayfree Pads! The sign said $2.99 (I read it!), and I was charged $3.59. Yes, I plan to complain about that. I find this is a common way for big companies to make extra money! This Coupon Chick will be speaking up!
*Please look over your order BEFORE you pay. Cashiers CAN print a receipt out BEFORE you pay if you ask them to.

$2 Coupon for Post Cereal

Visit: www.postnatural.com register (bottom left hand corner) and they will email you a $2 coupon for Post Shreded Wheat, Grape Nuts or Raisin Bran. It worked for me just now. :)

More Printable Coupons

This website has many coupons I'm sure you've seen on other websites, however, this one has their coupons seperated into catagories. For me, this makes it easier to go to the exact coupons I'm looking for. Click on the "check to print" box and print when you're done.

Coupon Lingo- Mastering "Coupon Language"

I found this article on www.about.com while searching for coupon acronyms. This article really helps to explain the terms of each coupon. I've printed out a copy and keep it in my coupon binder. http://couponing.about.com/od/groceryzone/a/couponlingo.htm

P.S. It even tells you what a "blinkie" is!

New Publix reusable tote bags!

I purchased two new reusable tote bags at Publix a few days ago and wanted to share them with you. I love the colors and am always on the look-out for unique resuable bags. They're 0.99 cents each. With all of my Publix savings my bags were pretty much free! :) *A great gift idea: Use a reusable bag as your gift bag. Tie the handles with some pretty ribbon, tada! And, chances are, you'll spend less on a reusable bag than you would on a gift bag anyways!

Walgreens Coupon Book (offers good 3/28-4/24/10)

Don't forget to pick up your Walgreens April Coupon Book in the store! I'm unsure if you can "stack" coupons at Walgreens, meaning using a store coupon as well as a manufacturers coupon on one item. I've read that they don't except more coupons than items. However, I've also read that each Walgreens makes its own "coupon policy". I would suggest contacting your local store to be certain.

Thanks so much!
